Speaker Bio: Dr. Scotty Butcher, PhD, PT, CMMT, SSR

Scotty has been a Physical Therapist for 25 years and a University Professor for 16. He has advanced training in strength coaching, stress coaching, mindfulness, meditation, respiratory exercise physiology, and applied biofeedback. Scotty practices, studies, and teaches strength training, biofeedback, exercise recovery methodology, and mindfulness.

More important to Scotty than his professional credentials are his personal life’s experience. He is married with a blended family of 5 young adult children and dedicates his time and energy to being the best father he can be. He is also an active Mental Health advocate and has a long personal history of generalized anxiety disorder. Through this experience, he has learned first-hand the importance of using the body to impact both physiology and psychology and has also learned how to build and refine a mental health physiological skills approach to stressors (mindfulness, biofeedback, and breathing facilitation).

Last, but certainly not least, Scotty is a self-proclaimed geeky nerd who also likes to lift. He is a huge Star Wars fan, but doesn’t judge if you like Star Trek better. His family is very much into Marvel movies and hanging out with their three rescue cats, Mighty, Mischief, and Marvel. Scotty competes periodically in the sport of powerlifting, but values his morning walks with a podcast more.
