The Pain Revolution Program

This program is for patients who:

  • Have had an assessment with their doctor or nurse practitioner
  • Are willing to learn about how the pain system works
  • Are willing to participate in a daily practice of movement, breath, and wellness techniques to reduce their pain and regain function.

AFHT’s Pain Revolution Program consists of an initial call/contact with a registered kinesiologist to explain the program, set you up on Embodia, a virtual platform for sharing videos, and schedule your private virtual appointments. You will then watch a video education series that will take about one hour of your time.

Upon completion of the learning series, you will be contacted by a registered kinesiologist and are eligible for up to 3 one-on-one virtual consultations through a secure platform, specifically Embodia.

Video Presentation:

You will learn new information about pain and your nervous system in order to help you become stronger, more flexible, and reduce tension. Check out this YouTube video if you want to learn more about this approach: Tame the Beast- It’s Time to Rethink Persistent Pain:

Individual One-on-One:

You will have personalized discussions to help identify your goals in regaining the parts of life that have been affected by your pain. Relaxation exercises, breathing techniques, cardiovascular exercise, and strengthening/flexibility exercises will be prescribed and taught. You will be encouraged to participate in movement adjusted to your level of fitness for 30 minutes every day.

You will become familiar with new concepts such as:

  • How you think about your pain can change the way it feels
  • Tension and guarding are one of the main drivers of persistent pain
  • You can reduce your pain by actively participating in this program
  • There is hope that you can reduce your pain and get back to doing the things that you love!

This program is accessible for patients with persistent pain through a doctor or nurse practitioner referral.

Active participation is encouraged in this program as movement is a key principle; all exercise components can be adjusted to any level to keep participants comfortable and safe.
