Overview:

The mind-body connection has been a popular topic over the past decade when looking at treating pain in a clinical setting but it has not always been linked to central pain mechanisms.

When addressing the mind-body connection as a rehabilitation strategy, profiling central pain mechanisms is an important concept.

Utilizing the SAD CLLIFSS strategy in the Level 3a course through Pelvic Health Solutions or the online course, Biopsychosocial REFRAMED: Building a Psychologically-Informed Practice allows clinicians to effectively identify and treat the phenotypes of persistent pain.

Qi Gong is an effective strategy for body image changes in the sensorimotor cortex (changes in the neurotags that produce movement and sensation in a particular joint or body part) because it includes novel, rotary movements that most patients have not previously experienced.

Qi Gong, along with yoga, tai chi, and meditation, also helps to evoke the relaxation response which builds resilience in the nervous system.

Building resilience in the nervous system can lead to less guarding and tension in the muscles, thereby effectively and efficiently addressing tension myalgia (formerly known as trigger points).

This Qi Gong resource package includes 6 curated, therapeutic routines that separately address the lower quadrant of the body, the upper quadrant, breathing mechanics and visceral tension. They are easy to perform, requiring little to no equipment, easy to learn, enjoyable for most patients and easy to prescribe. Using the Embodia platform allows you to prescribe these exercises with the click of a button.

What's Included:

  • 10 patient exercise routines - 6 Qi Gong videos and 4 Qi Gong audio resources
  • There is a new, shorter version (15 minutes) of the lower and upper Qi Gong for those challenged to commit to a 20-minute routine; these shorter routines are also offered without music in the background for post-concussion symptoms where excess auditory processing is challenging
  • Lifetime access to the resources
