This course will enable health care providers to gain a practical knowledge of the possible anatomical & biomechanical factors leading to anterior knee pain and specifically patello-femoral sensitivity (PFS).

It will also review on some of the currently existing myths regarding the risk factors for the development of PFS such as Q angle, patellar tracking, ITB tightness, etc.

The course will review a clinically focused approach to the evaluation and diagnosis of PFS

Based on current studies, the management options reviewed will include

i) Activity modifications (running, cycling, sitting and squats)

ii) Effective muscular and proprioceptive retraining exercises

iii) Foot wear modifications

iv) Taping & bracing

v) Pharmaceutical managements, injections and surgical options

vi) Knowing when there may be a central sensitization component

Bahram is a physiotherapist and founder of the Advanced Physical Therapy Education Institute (APTEI). He's taught 1000+ continuing education courses to healthcare professionals across Canada & internationally.

He has instructed over one thousand post-graduate orthopaedic and pain science courses and has been a guest presenter at several physiotherapy and medical conferences across Canada and internationally.

His primary clinical approach is to identify relevant functional impairments and determine the best self-management strategy to maximize patient independence.
