In this presentation, Jessica Drummond, DCN, CCN, PT will discuss how optimizing digestive function, nutrient dense nutrition, stress management, and optimal sleep can support clients to reach their pain relief goals in an empowered way. We will discuss how the collaboration between a functional nutrition approach and a physical therapy approach is optimal for women with pelvic pain conditions including endometriosis, interstitial cystitis (IC), vulvodynia, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and constipation.

Pelvic Health Solutions is an evidence-based teaching company that was founded in 2010 by Nelly Faghani and Carolyn Vandyken, out of the need to develop pelvic health resources in Ontario, an under serviced health concern in this province. Since the inception of our teaching company, pelvic health physiotherapy has blossomed from a handful of physiotherapists to well over 300 therapists now rostered with the Ontario College of Physiotherapists. Pelvic Health Solutions provides continuing education courses for a variety of practitioners, including mentoring and clinical resources for therapists to utilize with their patients. Our mission is to provide evidence-based, biopsychosocial resources to patients and health care practitioners for the assessment and treatment of pelvic health problems in our province and abroad.

We will discuss how the collaboration between a functional nutrition approach and a physical therapy approach is optimal for women with pelvic pain conditions including endometriosis, interstitial cystitis (IC), vulvodynia, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and constipation. She is the founder and CEO of the Integrative Women’s Health Institute is passionate about caring for and empowering women who struggle with women’s and pelvic health conditions. She is equally passionate about educating and supporting clinicians in confidently and safely using integrative tools to transform women’s and pelvic healthcare. Having two decades of experience in women’s and pelvic health as a physical therapist and functional nutritionist, plus owning a private women’s health clinical nutrition and coaching practice, gives her a unique perspective on the integrative, conservative options for pelvic pain management, hormone balance, preconception and fertility support, postpartum recovery, and chronic pain and fatigue management. She regularly lectures on topics such as integrative pelvic pain management, natural fertility options, optimal hormone health, and functional and integrative nutrition for rehabilitation, nutrition, wellness, fitness, and medical professionals. Dr. Drummond was educated at the University of Virginia, Emory University, Duke Integrative Medicine, and Maryland University of Integrative Health.
