Overview

Now more than ever, employees face increasing demands, competing priorities, and heightened emotional pressures. While maintaining results is essential, teams must also create environments where employees can remain engaged, healthy, and productive over the long term.

This practical and engaging session explores how to maintain performance while supporting the wellbeing of team members during periods of pressure and change.

Participants will gain actionable strategies to strengthen resilience, lead with empathy, establish healthy boundaries, and create conditions that support sustainable performance.

Learning Objectives

In this online course, we will:

  1. Recognize common signs of burnout, overload, and disengagement
  2. Differentiate between empathy and emotional absorption when supporting each other
  3. Apply strategies to establish healthy boundaries that protect wellbeing and productivity
  4. Foster resilience during periods of change, uncertainty, and increased workload
  5. Sustain engagement, energy, and performance through effective leadership practices

Audience

This course is designed for physiotherapists, physiotherapist assistants, and allied health practitioners who lead or influence a team, including clinic owners, directors of rehabilitation, clinical leads, and managers. It is just as relevant if you are stepping into your first leadership role or lead informally, such as mentoring students, coordinating a program, or being the colleague everyone turns to when things get busy.

No formal management training is required. Because the content focuses on leadership rather than clinical technique, it applies across practice settings, from private clinics to hospitals and community care. If you have ever wondered how to hold your team to a high standard while still protecting their wellbeing, this course is for you.

Why This Course Matters

Healthcare teams work under sustained pressure: full caseloads, staffing gaps, documentation demands, and constant change. Pressure itself is not the problem. The right amount stretches people into their best work, but too much for too long tips them into strain and, eventually, burnout. The real leadership challenge is knowing where your team sits on that curve and what to do about it.

Many practitioners step into leadership because they are excellent clinicians, not because they were trained to manage workload, boundaries, or morale. This course fills that gap with tools you can use at your next team meeting, and it reframes burnout prevention around a clear goal: not eliminating pressure, but creating the conditions where your team can perform, recover, adapt, and thrive.
